Get to know the Screen Time team: hello Neil Prosser

by Screen Time Team on 11/07/2016

What did you do before Screen Time

Before joining Screen Time I spent over seven years with MixRadio, who were a music streaming company based in Bristol.

What will your new role involve?

I’ll be helping develop our applications and the software which supports them. Part of my role at MixRadio was to ensure that our behind-the-scenes tooling enabled developers to make hundreds of changes to our platform without incident. Focusing on this allowed us to get new features and bug fixes in front of our customers as quickly as possible. So, as well as learning some new skills creating our applications, I’ll be doing everything I can to make sure that we’re always able to keep up as more parents choose Screen Time.

What attracted you to Screen Time?

I became a father last summer so the question of how we’d need to deal with our daughter’s use of screens wasn’t pressing but had crossed my mind. The internet only really got popular in my late teens and I didn’t have a mobile phone until I went to college so I know that screen usage is different now. When the opportunity came up to join a company which is helping parents avoid arguments and encourage balance in their screen time, I couldn’t turn it down.

Have you used Screen Time app with your own children?

I have a daughter who isn’t old enough to use devices yet but knowing that eventually we’ll want to make sure she’s got the right balance between using screens and other activities.

Favourite childhood game

I think that would have to be Sonic the Hedgehog on my old Sega Mega Drive, which still comes down from the loft every so often!

How do you play?

Most of my time offline is devoted to my daughter but if I have a few free minutes I like to play guitar.

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

I’ve been told before that I look like Novak Djokovic so maybe he’d like to get into acting!

Best advice you’ve ever been given…

Be honest, keep talking to each other and work as a team.

We’ll sharing regular posts to help you get to know the team better, and if you’re interested in working with us, check out our jobs board.
