How do I uninstall/delete Screen Time

Android

There is an Uninstall option in the menu of the Screen Time app. You will need to uninstall Screen Time from within the app and not through the normal method of uninstalling Android apps.

If you’re child tries to deactivate Screen Time‘s “Device administrator” in order to uninstall the app, this will lock the device with your Screen Time password.

Apple

There are 2 steps to uninstalling Screen Time on Apple devices:

  • Remove the profile from the Apple Settings. In the Apple Settings General >> Profiles & Device Management >> Screen Time Profile >> Remove Management.
If you don’t see a Profiles & Device Management section in the settings, then please skip this step, the profile has already been removed.
  • Uninstall the Screen Time app in the normal way by holding your finger on the app until all of the apps start wobbling, then press the X in the corner of the app to delete.
If the X doesn’t appear then make sure that the Deleting Apps restriction is turned off in Apple Settings General >> Restrictions.

How do I get this off my phones?!!! Nothing is working.

Hi Amy, I’m sorry to hear that. The instructions on this page show you how to uninstall Screen Time from your kid’s devices. On your device (the parent’s) then you can just uninstall it as you would any other app.

Thank you. Screentime and iPads do not work together well yet. I have managed to remove management, but I cannot get ScreenTime off of the iPad as it has magically disappeared. (It’s still there. Just the icon has vanished.) I’ll keep working on it. And in the meantime, I have switched 3 of my 4 kids over to Samsungs because I really do love the app and it works so well on those articular devices. I think I may have to switch my daughter over as well.

Hey there, if you remove the Profile and the Screen Time app from the device then it’s uninstalled. If Screen Time is still blocking the device in some way please let us know by emailing [email protected].

We’re working hard making improvements to the Apple version of Screen Time and we’ve made some big advancements in the last couple of weeks so stick with it!
